ARRIFLEX Alexa M + Cineflex

ZatzWorks now offers the only Cineflex V14 with a field swappable Alexa or Sony imager. We now swap cameras and lenses in the field in just over an hour. Need Alexa? No problem. Need the Sony with the big lens? No problem.

We can shoot perfect, stabilized aerials using the beautiful Alexa-M for scenic and medium shots, and then switch to the Sony for super-telephoto shots with our 42x Fujinon lens.

Last month we introduced the Alexa M with the 4k Canon 30 to 300mm lens, and this month ZatzWorks is adding the 14.5 to 60mm wide angle Canon 4k. For the Sony we have both the 42x and the 13×4.5mm wide angle.

Switching between the Sony and Alexa is a snap on the inside: We simply remove the control for our HDCAM SR recorder and snap in the Alexa controls. Swapping out the Sony imager and installing the Alexa M is also a snap. We can do it in just over an hour!

ZatzWorks ARRI Alexa Cineflex Arrives on Schedule

This month we began shooting with our ARRI Alexa in the Cineflex. Most of you know the Alexa, a Super 35 sensor with 14 stops of latitude. A thing of beauty. The Alexa is now part of the ZatzWorks Cineflex Alexa Package along with a Canon 4k 30-300 lens and soon a Canon 14.5-60 4k wide angle. We went up in the helicopter for a 2-hour flight and created a demo of our Cineflex with the Alexa inside. (for lower bandwidth click here).

ZatzWorks Shoots for Smuggler and AT&T

The latest AT&T ad created by Smuggler is out, with Cineflex aerials provided by ZatzWorks. This winter shoot was based in Valdez and involved tracking aircraft traveling at 200 knots as well as using the AStar as a low level dolly. Director of photography was Ken Sang, and about the ZatzWorks aerials he says, “Daniel is a world class aerial DP with his own Cineflex, Alexa M, and Sony 1500 rig, and It’s great to know I don’t need to fly in an aerial DP next time I shoot in Alaska!” Check out the spot by clicking here.

Across the Arctic at -27F shooting for Nat Geo’s Life Below Zero

The ZatzWorks crew shot deep-winter Cineflex aerials across the Arctic from Alaska’s west coast to the Canadian Border in an epic 3000 mile winter tour. Working with Producer Tommy Baynard, Daniel Zatz and pilot Deb Moseley traveled from Kotzebue to Deadhorse, down to Coldfoot and then east to Eagle on the Yukon. Except for a few cold fingers and toes, the production was hugely successful– completing an 8-10 day shoot in only 6 days and well under budget.

“We planned carefully, were well prepared, and waited for the right time,” says Daniel Zatz. “The key is having good local contacts and not pushing the weather or other limits. It was a great trip.”

Producer Tommy Baynard says:

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Daniel on 3 seasons of “Flying Wild Alaska”. Our task was immense, as we had winter weather and a great deal of logistics to complete our shoot in the 8-10 day window allotted. Daniel understands the creative flow and deadlines and how the two can work together for the best outcome.
